Bhubaneswar: Twelve more out of 29 swab samples tested positive for swine flu on Monday. Five men and seven women from four districts across Odisha have been tested positive for the virus.

Eight among the persons affected with the H1N1 virus belong to Khurda while two are from Cuttack and one each from Sambalpur and Sundergarh district.

The samples were tested at seven hospitals in the twin city of which four samples were tested at Kalinga Hospital, one each at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Apollo Hospital and Care Hospital, two each at Kar Clinic and AMRI Hospital in Bhubaneswar and one sample was tested at Rohini Hospital in Cuttack.

It may be mentioned that 46 samples out of 206 have been tested positive so far, while one swine flu death has been reported.

Earlier on August 6, the State government had directed government as well as privately-run hospitals to keep special ward ready to treat persons affected with the H1N1 virus.

The Public Health department had issued special advisory to 15 privately-run hospitals asking them to set up separate screening facility or isolation wards with ventilator support for H1N1 cases. The facility should be manned by trained staff with proper infection control precaution, the directive added.
