Swargadwar land grab row: Puri civic body initiates eviction drive

Puri: Eviction drive on Swargadwar land has been initiated by the Puri Municipality. In the first phase of the drive, a building constructed on one decimal land in Swargadwar premises was demolished today.

Notably, 16.735 acre land was allotted for Swargadwar. Out of it 10.342 acre land was recorded in name of 158 persons in later stages.

The facts were exposed by the nine member probe committee on the Swargadwar land grab allegations. The committee has submitted its preliminary report to Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central Range, AB Ota.

Currently, Swargadwar is limited to an area of 465 decimal. The RDC had ordered to reclaim the Swargadwar land.
