Puri: Protest grows over Swargadwar land encroachment allegations. While BJP had staged an agitation on the issue yesterday, Puri District Students Congress and Srikshetra Sukarsha Bahini (SSB) took to streets today demanding a high level probe of the case.

Both the groups staged a mass agitation at Atharnala here, due to which traffic to Puri town came at a halt for quite a long period of time.  The Students Congress has demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the SSB also has sought a probe by a State-level committee.

Talking to OTV, Swadhin Panda, a member of SSB alleged, "The formed committee is a fake committee, as such a committee had been formed in 2012 to probe on the issue, but the reports remained stacked inside a file. We demand a high-level probe by formation of a State-level committee; the case should be handed over to Crime Branch, Central Bureau of Investigation or Vigilance."

Vice-President of Puri District Students Congress, Ashish Kumar Das said, "If they continue to loot Puri in such a way, probe will remain on its way, committees will come and go without taking any action on the issue than the Students Congress will be forced to take to the streets."

Meanwhile, sources said that the 9-member committee was able to get hold of some important evidence during the probe.  The committee found out that 10.342 acre from the 16.4 acre Swargadwar land has been registered in names of 158 persons.
