Suspected to be a thief, youth assaulted in Bhanjanagar

Bhubaneswar: A youth is now battling for life after he was brutally assaulted by some members of a family at Jamagorada in Bhanjanagar. They suspected him to be a thief, trying to sneak into their house late at night.

According to reports, the youth Lipun was roughed up after the family members of Pratap Rout caught him red handed while trying to sneak into their house last night allegedly for the purpose of commiting burglary.

It is alleged that Lipun has sustained severe injuries after he was attacked with sharp weapons and branded with hot iron.

Following the incident, Lipun was first admitted to community health centre at Jagannath Prasad and later shifted to MKCG at Berhampur for treatment.

Meanwhile, police have detained Pratap and further investigation in connection with the incident is on.
