Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea challenging bail granted by Orissa High Court to chit fund scam accused and Seashore Group CMD, Prashant Das’s wife Jyotirani Sarangi.

The Orissa High Court on November 10, 2016 had released Sarangi on conditional bail. She was asked to furnish a bail bond of Rs.50,000 with two sureties for the like amount to the satisfaction of Rourkela SDJM court.

However, one Kailash Chandra Lenka had moved the apex court challenging the order of the High Court.

It was Lenka who had lodged an FIR against Seashore Sundargarh Multipurpose Co-operative Ltd, at Raghunathpalli police station in Rourkela in 2013, accusing its Directors and office bearers of duping him of Rs 75 lakh.

Acting on the complaint Rourkela SDJM court had issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Sarangi, who was a member of the board of Seashore Group.

She was later arrested by Twin City Commissionerate Police from Laxmisagar area in Bhubaneswar on June 7, 2016. She was lodged in Jharpara Jail after her bail plea was initially rejected.
