Bhubaneswar: Authorities of the Jharpada Circle jail in Bhubaneswar have lodged an FIR at the Laxmisagar police station against Artha Tatwa (AT) chief Pradip Sethy for attempting to commit suicide, said Arun Kumar Ray, IG (Jail), today.

Talking to media persons, Ray said, “Sethi had made a suicide bid by inflicting injuries on his hand. However, as per the report of the jail superintendent, the injuries were minor,” adding that the AT chief had threatened he would commit suicide.

Ray said Sethi has been warned by the jail authorities not to repeat the act or risk being put in solitary confinement.

Meanwhile, the DIG Jail has initiated a probe into the incident in which Sethi had attempted to cut his vein in the jail on Saturday night.

After the formal FIR by the jail authorities, a fresh case is all set to be registered against Sethy by the police. On Sunday, Bhubaneswar deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Satyabrata Bhoi had said the Commissionerate Police will consider taking steps against Sethi for his attempt to commit suicide in the jail after getting a formal report from the jail authorities.
