Bhubaneswar: Raising concerns about the hazards of ocean pollution, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik gave away a message through his art at the 2017 edition of Singapore International Sand Sculpting Championship that concluded on Thursday.

His sculpture on the theme 'Save Ocean, Save Earth' and ‘Say No To plastic' drew attention on how oceans are being polluted by plastic garbage and oil spillage.

The United Nations Environment lauded the art and efforts of the Odia artist.

Similarly, Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma extended warm wishes to Pattnaik for his splendid art.

As many as 15 artists from across the globe like Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Portugal and Togo took part in the event which was held from August 28 to 31 at Santosa.

Pattnaik, who has participated in more than 50 international championships across the world and won many awards for the country, also runs a sand art school on Puri beach in Odisha.
