Puri: International acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has set his eyes on breaking his own record by coming up with a giant sculpture of Lord Jagannath on the occasion of New Year at Puri beach.

Pattnaik has started work to create a 30ft high sculpture for which nearly 700 tonnes of sand is being used by his team. Earlier, Pattnaik had entered the record books by creating a 25ft high replica of Lord Jagannath on sand in 2013.

Sudarsan Pattnaik has always wowed the world with his impressive, intricate and innovative sand sculptures and the residents of Puri are optimistic about his latest record attempt.

Already, people as well as tourists from other parts of the country are thronging the beach to have a glimpse of the sand art.
