Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today allowed the Suar and Mahasuara Nijog to continue the sale of Mahaprasad of Lord Jagannath at Ananda Bazar on the temple premises.

In a meeting held between the SJTA and the Nijog, it was decided that a hygienic and hassle-free sale and purchase of Mahaprasad would be maintained.

Besides, the administration has warned people not to engage in the sale and use of adulterated ghee in the Puri temple. "Each item entering the Shree Mandir will be strictly checked," said an official of SJTA.

However, the sale of Tanka Torani at Ananda Bazar has been banned by the SJTA.

“We are working towards streamlining Ananda Bazar following which devotees in large numbers can have the pious Mahaprasad of Lord Jagannath in a clean and hygienic environment. It will be hassle free and more Suara and Mahasuara servitors will be able to sell Mahaprasad,” said SJTA chief administrator Pradeep Jena.

“The Suar and Mahasuara Nijog first needs self-discipline. They have been told to submit a blue print on the proper procedure of sale of Mahaprasad,” added Jena.

“The discussion with the SJTA was successful. We will dedicatedly co-operate with the temple administration,” said president of Suar and Mahasuara Nijog, Damodar Mahasuara.
