Baripada: As many as 12 students of Brahmanagaon residential school in Bangiriposi of Mayurbhanj district jumped the hostel walls and walked around 20 kms to meet the district collector and vent their grievance about non-availability of teachers in the school.

According to reports, the students have been facing a lot of inconvenience due to absence of teachers in the school. They have alleged that though teachers of Ghatkumari UG High School have been deputed since one year to teach them, none has ever turned up at the school.

They also alleged that despite repeated complaints to the District Education Officer (DEO), Block Development Officer (BDO) and the Collector grievance hearing cell regarding the issue, the authorities did not pay any heed.

Sources said 19 students from the residential school will appear in the matric examinations this year, of which seven students are day-boarders and rest 12 stay in the hostel.

With hardly a few days left for the matric exams, the students finally decided to take the matter to the Collector and jumped the walls at round 3 am last night.  But since they have not been able to meet the collector, the students had a discussion with the DEO and submitted a written complaint to him.
