Bolangir: In an exemplary show of patriotism, students of Kundamal UP School unfurled the Tricolour all by themselves in absence of any teacher in the school on Independence day.

The students reached the school early in the morning for the celebrations and waited till 12 noon with open eyes. Seeing the students sitting on the school veranda, some villagers inquired about the matter and helped them unfurl the tricolour.

As per reports, the school had only one teacher but he was also transferred a couple of months ago. The school has remained shut for the last one week in absence of teachers. According to government norms, the district administration should depute a teacher from the neighbouring institute to function the school.

"We came here in the morning. It's already 12 noon but neither any teacher nor other government officials have turned up to unfurl the Tricolour. We are feeling bad for not being able to hoist the national flag," said a student Nilabati Mahakud.

"We are waiting for teachers to come. Nobody have come yet. The school is locked," said another student Sushil Kheti.
