Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Thursday confirmed participation in the JEE Main 2018 and urged students from the State to enroll themselves for the upcoming entrance examination starting from tomorrow.
As per the CBSE notification, the online application process for JEE Main 2018 will start from December 1, 2017. Students have been asked to pay the application fee by January 3, 2018.
Like last year, candidates need to furnish their Aadhaar details while registering themselves for JEE Main examination.
The decision is likely to upset Odisha Private Engineering Colleges Association (OPECA) as it was pressing the government for conducting OJEE instead of participating in the JEE Main starting from April 8 next year.
Citing large number of seat vacancies in private colleges, OPECA urged government not to participate in the JEE Main.
"Be it NIT, IIT or other major educational institutions in the country, students appear for JEE Main as it is the base examination. By appearing in JEE Main, the students by default are also eligible to take admissions in private and government colleges in Odisha," said OJEE Chairman, Tushar Nath.

Keeping this aspect in mind, Odisha government had decided to participate in JEE Main for the last four years so that the students do not have to appear for any second entrance test.
"We expect students will participate in the registration process of JEE Main 2018 which will start from tomorrow," Tushar Nath added.

JEE Main 2018 Online Exam (Computer Based) – 15th & 16th April 2018
Online Application Process Begins – 1st December 2017
Online Application Process Ends – 1st January 2018
Admit Card Release Date (Tentative) – 2nd Week of March 2018
JEE Main 2018 Exam Date – Offline mode – 8th April 2018 (Sunday)
JEE Main 2018 Exam Date – Online mode – 15th & 16th April 2018 (Sunday & Monday)
