Students stage demonstration over fee hike at Ravenshaw University

Cuttack: Tension prevailed at Ravenshaw University after hundreds of students gheraoed the vice-chancellor's office over exorbitant fee hike and other issues on Tuesday.

According to sources, the protest was launched by the students under the aegis of Ravenshaw Chhatra Kriyanusthan Committee against several ‘arbitrary’ decisions taken by the authorities of the varsity.

The students are protesting the order of varsity of vacating the hostels for renovation work by May 28, introduction of complusory meals for hostel boarders which the students allege is an uncessary financial burden being imposed on them, among others.

Besides, the students are demanding re-introduction of previous instant examination system for final year students, sources said.
