Balasore: Four students of a private college in Jamusoli of the district were made to do ‘sit-ups’ as a punishment for calling a police personnel 'Mamu’ on Tuesday.

Besides, the four students were allegedly beaten up by the police constable, Deepak Pradhan of Jamakunda outpost here.

When Pradhan blew the horn of his bike while on way to Langaleswar, one of the four students, who were returning home after attending classes, told his classmates to give way to the cop addressing him as ‘Mamu’.

Upon hearing the 'Mamu’ word, Pradhan got furious, got down from his bike and made the students do ‘sit-up’. He also threatened the students of dire consequences.

Meanwhile, the Balasore SP has said action will be taken against the constable after a thorough probe.
