Tangi: As many as six teachers of Nara Manabi Government UG High School in Tangi block of Khurda district were detained by students and guardians in protest against the transfer order of school headmaster.

Around eight hours after, the teachers were released following assurance of block officials.

The guardians alleged there are only seven teachers in the school including the headmaster. The class IX and X are looked after by the headmaster only while all others attend other classes.

“We demand the administration should provide adequate number of teachers. If they are not able to provide teachers, they should issue Transfer Certificate (TC) of our children. The government should take a decision on it at the earliest,” said Maheswar Behera, a guardian.

Later, Tangi ABDO and police reached the spot and assured the agitating locals of taking appropriate measures to resolve their issue.
