Students’ Congress kicks off membership drive

Bhubaneswar: Preparations for the students’ Congress elections began in the State with a membership drive on Tuesday.

"There are 'active' members and 'primary' members. We are recruiting 'active' members who, on our behalf, will recruit 10 'primary' members each under them. The persons selected as 'active' members in future will be able to contest for various posts in the students’ Congress committee. In the membership drive the 'active' member has to submit certificate for verification of age and a college ID to join. To become a 'primary' member one has to only submit college ID as proof," said Akash Sharma, Odisha's students’ Congress in-charge.

Elections to 21 posts in Students’ Congress including the post of the President will be held in near future. This includes six vice-presidents, six general secretaries, six secretaries, a post each reserved for a woman and scheduled tribe for vice-president and secretary posts and post of a president respectively.
