Student Cong demands mayor’s scalp in ‘sex scandal’

Bhubaneswar: The Student Congress here on Thursday demanded the resignation of Ananta Narayan Jena, the mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) alleging his involvement in a sex tape which has gone viral in social networking sites.

The three and half minute video uploaded in the social networking site shows three persons in an intimate moment with one among them bearing close resemblance with Jena. A woman is also seen in the video. The video is purportedly taken in a mobile phone.

The Congress party said Jena should immediately resign from his post on moral grounds.

“Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena’s presence is clearly visible in the video. Until it is proved that he is innocent, he must resign from his post”, said Student Congress president Itish Pradhan.

The student leader also alleged Jena’s involvement in the death of an engineering student here.

“We strongly suspect that Jena is indirectly involved in the death of engineering student Rishi, who was actively involved in our party works. We demand that a high level inquiry should be made into it”, Pradhan stated.
Meanwhile Jena rebuffing the charges said the party is trying to tarnish his images.

“I am not at all the person in the video the party is talking about”, quipped Jena.

The mayor preferred to tell anything beyond this in this regard.

In a related development, Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress leader Sasmita Behera has filed FIR against Jena in capital police station. Demanding his arrest Behera said Jena must resign from his post.

Similarly in a press meet, Bhuabaneswar district BJP president Harekrushna Khuntia said the party will demonstrate before Commissionerate Police headquarters tomorrow if Jena doesn't resign by tonight.

Meanwhile Jena has filed counter FIR against Student Congress president Itish Pradhan & one Pradip Pandey.
