Cuttack: The striking students of the School of Nursing at SCB Medical College and Hospital today lodged an FIR against their principal at Mangalabag police station here accusing her of ill-treating and passing casteist remark against a fourth year nursing student.

Their move came after the SCB authorities failed to take any action against the erring principal despite repeated complaints, they said.

The students went on a cease-work agitation on Tuesday over the incident in which a fourth year student - Subhadra Murmu- was allegedly misbehaved with and assaulted by Principal Kajal Rani Sinha.

Protesting the inaction of the SCB authorities, over 200 nursing students took out a rally and staged a dharna in front of the office of the Superintendent.

"Even if we are late by a minute in reporting for duty, the principal madam marks us absent and deducts our stipend. We were served the meal late on Saturday. While we were having lunch, the attendance bell rang. While we hurriedly went to give our attendance, I could not place my head band properly. Suddenly, the principal came from behind and slapped me twice while pulling my hair," said Murmu.
