Angul: A day after the shocking incident in which a 4-year-old minor boy was mauled by a pack of stray dogs in Puri town, similar incident took place in Bhogabereni village under Banarpal police station limits in Angul district where a minor girl was seriously injured after she was attacked by stray dogs.

Reports said Priyanshi Naik, a four-year-old minor girl was playing near her house at about 11.30 AM on Saturday when three stray dogs suddenly attacked her. Hearing her cry, the family members rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. The girl, who sustained multiple bites with a deep cut in her left eye, was rushed the girl to district headquarters hospital.

Talking to media persons, Sanjay Naik, father of the victim, said his daughter was playing with two other children. In the meanwhile, the two children went to their house. Seeing my daughter, three dogs chased my daughter and attacked.

“We have provided adequate treatment along with anti-rabies vaccine to the child whose condition now stable. But since she has sustained dog bite injuries, she needs immunoglobulin. We are trying to get this antibody. If it is not available here, then we will refer the girl to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, said Dr Sandip Sahu, surgeon at the district headquarters hospital.

In the meanwhile, a PIL has been filed in the Orissa High Court on Saturday demanding compensation to the tune of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased minor boy who was mauled by a pack of stray dogs.

Alleging that the minor boy died to the gross apathy of the Puri Municipality authorities, the petitioner has urged the court to direct the concerned authority to pay the compensation.
