Bhubaneswar: Steel pillars and box frames will be used to secure Jagmohan, the chamber facing the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri, informed Sri Jagannath Temple administrator, Prasanna Kumar Hota.

According to reports, a decision in this regard was taken during a meeting presided over by the Union Culture secretary in New Delhi to chalk out a permanent repair plan for Jagmohan.

The meeting also decided to install extra steel pillars to give support to the existing pillars of the Jagmohan, the sources added.

Talking to newsmen, Hota said, “The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has directed not to dig foundation for the repair work of Jagmohan.”

“Extra steel pillars will be constructed to give support to the four pillars of Jagmohan. Besides, all the beams will be covered with portal box frames,” Hota added.
