Station manager crushed under goods train

Dhenkanal: In a socking incident, manager of Dhenkanal railway station crushed to death after coming under a goods train near the station here while he was inspecting the rescue and relief work of a derailed train engine on the track late last night.

The deceased, identified as Pabitra Nayak, belongs to Jirala of Kamakhyanagar area in the district.

An engine derailed from the track near the station. He sent some staff to lift the derailed engine and also had gone to the spot to inspect work, an official said.

“He was busy over phone in official matter at the accident site. At that time a goods train hit him and ran over killing him on the spot. We have sent the body to district headquarters hospital for postmortem. The body will be handed over t their family after postmortem”, a GRP official said.
