Bhubaneswar: In its relentless endeavour to disseminate massive awareness among the people about the killer AIDS and HIV and to inspire them to run for a healthy life, Odisha Television Ltd (OTV), the premiere news channel of Odisha, is going to organise a mini marathon in the state capital on Thursday to mark the World AIDS Day.

People from various walks of life will participate in the event.

Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patsani and Police Commissioner Yogesh Bahadur Khurania will flag off the event as guest of honour in the presence of Jagi Mangat Panda, Director of Odisha Television.

Eminent sportspersons and athletes of Odisha— Dutee Chand, Amiya Mallick, Lazarus Barla, Saina Salonika, Anuradha Biswal, Shradhanjali Samantray and Valena Valentina— who have been invited as the guests.

The aerobic team of Bhubaneswar Health Club has also been invited to the event to energise the people participating in the event.

After the address by the distinguished guests, the marathon will be flagged off at 7 AM from KIIT Stadium and culminated at the 7th Battalion premises near Nalco Square at about 8 AM where special programmes like the Rock Band and other cultural programmes would be held.

Chief Guest and Finance and Health minister Pradip Amat will deliver the valedictory address in presence of well-known Ollywood actor Babushan.

This unique event has been attracting thousands of denizens in the city since 2009.

Participants can collect T-Shirts and bibs at the starting point at KIIT Stadium while certificates would be given to those who will complete the marathon.

Those willing to participate in the Mini Marathon can register their name online (http://odishatv.in/otv-mini-marathon/) by midnight tonight or at the KIIT Stadium between 6 AM and 7 AM tomorrow.
