Bhubaneswar: At a time when Odisha has started experiencing rise in day temperature in  March first week, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Mohapatra has asked the departments to prepare heatwave action plan for this summer.

Temperatures are lying 2 degrees above the normal average by March 1st week this year and with meteorological department forecasting a much hotter summer this year.

While Bhubaneswar recorded 38 degree Celsius on Friday, day temperature at Angul, Titlagarh and Jharsuguda hovered close to 40 degree Celsius.

Mercury during the daytime, which has begun to soar in last couple of days, is likely to remain at those levels for few more days ahead, said the regional meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar.

Hot wind flow from the South-Western side especially Telengana and Rayalaseema is causing rise in day temperature in Odisha, the met department added.
