Spurned lover sets woman ablaze

Bhubaneswar: A failed love affair turned tragic today after a woman was allegedly set ablaze by her lover here in the city today. The accused, identified as Dambarudhar Das, was arrested by Nayapali police from Baramunda area.

He committed the crime by pouring petrol on the girl after she spurned his advances. The unfortunate incident took place at a slum near water tank in Unit 8 area in the city.

Critically injured, the woman was admitted to Capital hospital here and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after her condition worsened. Police recorded the statement of the survivor at the hospital.
