Speeding car injures two sleeping on pavement

Bhubaneswar: At least two persons were injured after a speeding car ran over them when they were sleeping on a pavement at Sashtri Nagar area here on Sunday night.

According to reports, the mishap occurred when an Indigo car (OD02 C 6670), which was coming from Bramhagiri and going towards Naharkanta through Sashtri Nagar strayed off the road and hit the two people sleeping by the side.

After hitting the pavement sleepers, the driver fled the spot.

Seeing the speeding car, some people started running but two others were left injured as the vehicle hit them when they were asleep.

Following the accident, tension erupted in the area as locals gheraoed the car and beat up its owner Judhisthir Swain, reports added.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot and began investigation after detaining the car owner.
