Puri: With barely a few hours left for the beginning of the world famous Ratha Jatra in Puri, the Odisha Police has made elaborate traffic arrangement to ensure safe and timely arrival of devotees.
Giving details to the media persons here this afternoon, IG Sanjib Panda said separate arrangements have been made for the heavy and light vehicles.
“Heavy vehicles coming to Puri would be diverted to the left side road along the Samajajpur railway over-bridge. Under no circumstances will these vehicles be allowed to ply on the railway over-bridge,” he said.
About the parking of heavy vehicles, he said all tourist and reserved buses would park at Malatipatpur bus terminal. If necessary, vehicles can be parked at Nagapatna via a newly constructed railway over-bridge. Buses coming to Puri from Konark can be parked at Nagapatna. On the return journey, all buses would be allowed to move through Satyabadi (Sakhigopal), Pipili and Uttara.
Buses coming from Bhubaneswar on National Highway-203 will move through Malatipatpur, Toshali Sands, Grid Station and Bhudan Chhak and park at a temporary bus stand at Talabania behind Srigundicha temple. On their return journey from Talabania, these buses will take the NH-203 via Central School, Bhudan Chhak, Grid Station, Gopalpur, Samangara and Biraharekrushnapur.
Buses coming from Brahmagiri area would be parked at Flourish India office near Mangala Ghat while buses coming from Konark area would move to the temporary bus stand at Talabania via Grid Station.
Panda said the light vehicles coming from Bhubaneswar to Puri and vice versa would be allowed to ply on Samajajpur railway over-bridge to Malatipatpur from where they will take the route to the light vehicle parking area at Talabania via Grid Station. “Apart from Talabania, parking facility for the light vehicles has been made near ITI, Indoor Stadium, Bhudan Chhak and Kumbharapada Outpost. On their return journey, these vehicles will catch NH-203 via Grid Station, Balighat, Gopalpur, Samangara and Biraharekrushnapur,” he informed.
