Bhubaneswar: In a bid to expedite payment of compensation in recent train tragedies, Chairman of Railway Claims Tribunal (RCT) has ordered to hold special bench to hear and settle claims of the victims of Kalinga Utkal Express and Kaifiyat Express accidents.

The special benches will be held at RCT headquarters in New Delhi and five other places including Bhubaneswar, Ghaziabad, Bhopal, Lucknow and Jaipur from September 11 to September 15.

Official sources said that RCT Bhubaneswar will hold the special bench at Odisha Forest Development Corporation Limited in Kharvela Nagar.

The Puri-Haridwar Kalinga Utkal Express had derailed on August 19 while Azamgarh-Delhi Kaifiyat Express had jumped tracks on August 23 in Uttar Pradesh.

As per an official release, the passengers who sustained injuries or suffered any loss, or any other authorized persons on behalf of the victim can file application for compensation with necessary documents and identity proof in original.
