Balasore: To keep any untoward incident at bay during Id-Ul-Zuha celebrations, the authorities have reimposed curfew in Soro town on Tuesday.

Sources said, the curfew which was clamped on Monday evening till today morning, was relaxed for some time in view of the mass prayers of Muslims. In the morning, people of the Muslim community congregated at the Idgah field in the town to offer mass prayers. There were no reports of people taking out Jaloos (religious procession) since the police had imposed restriction on such activities.

The police however said, the curfew has been reimposed from 6pm till 6am tomorrow.

Besides, Section 144 of CrPC which was invoked in the trouble-torn town yesterday, was relaxed in the morning from 8 am till 2pm. The authorities said it has been reimposed.

“We have asked the people to maintain peace. Neither any procession nor any congregation will be allowed in the town during this time,” Balasore SP Niti Sekhar said.
