Angul: An ultra-modern Aluminium Park aimed to provide job opportunities to nearly 15,000 aspirants will soon be set up at Angul in the State.

It will be the first project in the subcontinent with a facility to directly obtain molten aluminium from the smelter, a senior official said.

The park will be set up with an estimated investment of Rs 180 crore which would spread over 223 acres of industrial land.

With aluminium consumption growing at 15 per cent on a yearly basis and the demand set to rise, the park is being set up in Odisha with the state contributing to 54 per cent of the country's total smelting capacity, he said.

"We have already received many investment proposals for the Aluminium Park in Angul and we aim to create around 15000 job opportunities through the project," Sanjeev Chopra, Principal Secretary, state Industries Department, said.

The Aluminium Park would also create opportunities for downstream industries in the aluminium sector.

Jointly developed by Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), Angul Aluminium Park will be the first project in the subcontinent with a facility to directly obtain molten aluminium from the smelter, he said.

The project will be fully equipped with logistics infrastructure facility, an exclusive training centre, a park administration and a display and trade services facility.
