Bhubaneswar: Despite the existing cash crunch situation, the state government disbursed old age pension, widow pension and disability allowance to beneficiaries of the social security schemes today.

The government has made all arrangements for this, said state Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey here on Monday after discussion with senior officials of the RBI and the SBI.

Allowances would be disbursed to about 35 lakh beneficiaries entitled to the social security schemes. The government has earmarked Rs 140 crore for the purpose, Pandey said.

“I had a meeting with the senior SBI and RBI officials, currency chairs and social security officials to begin logistic operations so that the people in each GP will avail the old age and other pensions,” he added.

All district collectors were asked to make all necessary arrangements to provide pension to the beneficiaries.

On the other hand, Chief Minister and BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik has asked the party leaders and workers to extend necessary help to people during money exchange.
