Bhubaneswar: After 18 days, authorities of the BJB Autonomous College today lifted sine die from the college.

Informing media persons today, principal of the college Mohammad Nawaj Hasan said with lifting of sine die, students have started returning to their hostel from 5 PM.

He said regular classes will commence as usual from October 17 while the mid-semester examination from October 19.

Notably, the teachers’ council of the college had cancelled the election on September 28 following violence in the college premises. Protesting the decision, irate students had staged road blockade in front of the college on Bhubaneswar-Puri road by burning tyres. Police had also foiled the suicide attempt by a student.

Sensing trouble, the college authorities declared the college sine die and asked the boarders to vacate the hostels immediately. With the request of the authorities, the Khurda district administration later took charge of the college premises to maintain law and order.
