Shocking! Ambulance staff abandons body on road over payment

Soro: Shaming humanity, an elderly man’s dead body was allegedly abandoned on the roadside by ambulance staff near Paikali bridge in Balasore after an acquaintance of the deceased failed to pay for the service.

The elderly man, identified as Rehman Khan of Allahabad, was working as a daily wage labourer at Chintamanipada in Soro.

Yesterday, when he fell ill the female acquaintance of the man brought him to the Balasore District Hospital. The man passed away today morning at the hospital while undergoing treatment.

Staff of the privately-run ambulance, who carried the body from the hospital to the deceased’s house, asked for money. But Rehman’s attendant showed her incapability to pay following which the emergency service staff threw the body on the National Highway and fled.
