Jajpur: Attacks on sheep has returned to haunt the state once again, this time at Badchana in Jajpur district.

According to sources, an unidentified animal sneaked into the sheep stable of Ganeswar Behera, a resident of Badchana and killed two out of his 20 sheep late Monday night. Only selective body parts were found missing from the body, said reports. The mysterious animal reportedly left seven other sheep grievously injured.

This is the first time such an incident has been reported from Jajpur.

In 2017, hundreds of sheep were reportedly  killed in Niali region of Cuttack between February and July. Similar incidents were also reported from Bhanjanagar, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Kendrapara districts. Despite massive search operation launched by the forest department, the ‘killer’ had remained elusive.
