Angul: A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Samakoi Sahi of Angarbandh village in Angul district.
The accused has been identified as Sarathi Sahu.
The incident occurred at 3PM in the afternoon on Friday. The accused allegedly threatened the girl not to inform about the incident to anyone. However, looking at the physical condition of the girl, locals sought information from the girl.
After the news spread, tension erupted in the village and villagers thrashed accused Sarathi Sahu black and blue. Later he was handed over to the police. Angul police rushed to the spot and rescued the beaten up youth and has brought him to the police station where he is being interrogated.
Meanwhile, the victim girl has been admitted to the Angul district headquarters hospital for medical examination.
“We had our food and my daughter went outside to play. Then Sarathi Sahu called my daughter and committed the crime. She came and told me about the whole incident. Then I filed an FIR,” said the victim’s father.
“We have registered a case and investigations are on. A lady sub-inspector has taken over the case. We have apprehended the accused,” said IIC of Angul Police station Subhash Chandra Sahoo.
