Sexual harassment video: Police begins probe, three arrested

Bhubaneswar: Baripada Sadar police today arrested three accused Motilal Mahanta and Deepak Mahanta and Purshottam Mahanta from Jyotipur area in connection with the sexual harassment video of a girl that went viral on the social media on Wednesday.

The father of the girl, a minor, has lodged a police complaint in connection with the incident today that occurred some six months back.

The video had objectionable content of a boy and a girl being forced to strip naked and came to the fore after going viral on social media. Believed to have taken place near a park in Bhubaneswar, the incident was later confirmed to have happened in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district after Police Commissioner YB Khurania spoke to media.

However, the girl’s family registered a complaint in the police station today.

Sources said, the victim was subjected to humiliation and tortured by a gang of three youths, who forced her to strip and recorded the act on mobile phone. The incident occurred when the girl had gone to a park along with one of her friends near Pratappur.
