Sexual harassment slur: Ravenshaw VC to take action against lady faculty member

Cuttack: Ravenshaw University vice chancellor Prakash Chandra Sarangi today said disciplinary action will be taken against a female faculty member of the varsity’s Hindi department for levelling false sexual harassment allegations against the Head of the Department Abhishekh Sharma.

Sarangi stated, based on the varsity’s inquiry committee report the action will be taken against the woman faculty member for making false charges and creating hindrance in academic study under the Orissa University First statutes, 1990.

“Besides, a chargesheet will be filed against the woman faculty member over false allegations,” Sarangi added.

Meanwhile, the woman Reader commented, “The report submitted by the inquiry committee is one-sided. Apart from this, there was political pressure on the varsity authorities and probe committee.”

She also stated she would seek legal help and knock doors of a court.

Earlier, the woman Hindi Reader had brought sexual harassment charges against the Hindi department’s HOD. On the other hand, HOD Sharma had brought charges of assault against her.

As per reports, both the Reader and Abhishekh complained against each other before the varsity Registrar who later formed a team to probe into the allegations.

The HOD had first complained against the Reader who later accused him of sexual harassment.

The woman Reader had also lodged a complaint at the Mahila police station.
