Sex scandal video: Rishi’s kin demands reopening of murder case

Bhubaneswar: In a twist to the controversy surrounding city Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena for his alleged involvement in the sex scandal video clip and murder of engineering student Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi, family members of the deceased today demanded re-investigation of the murder case.

Besides, the mother of Rishi demanded an inquiry into the links of Rishi’s murder with the sex scandal video clip, which has gone viral on social media. The family members also demanded that cops investigate the love affair of Rishi and interrogate his girlfriend and hostel mates.

Rishi’s mother said, "We were suspecting that friends of Rishi had taken him to some unknown place and murdered him."

She added, "If allegations are being made against anyone regarding Rishi case, a probe should be initiated. Otherwise who will be able to know the truth and we will be able to say the same thing what public is talking about."

She further stated, "He (Rishi) might be murdered. However, we don’t know who had killed him. We suspect the CD might be a reason."

Expressing similar views, Rishi’s sister said, "We are suspecting love matter could be the reason behind his death. A probe should be launched and his girl friend and Nandu should be quizzed. They can only narrate the actual matter."

Besides, the police should probe what is the link between Rishi death and the CD, she added.

Rishi’s family members would formally put forth a demand at police station for reopening of the murder case.

Rishi’s friend said, "We definitely want the truth to come out. Otherwise we will be unhappy and Rishi Bhai’s soul will not get peace."

Commenting on the matter, Police Commissioner YB Khurania, said, "An unnatural death case was registered at the Khandagiri PS and a probe is on. We have received the post mortem report which said the youth died due to a heart attack. To be further sure, we had sent the viscera to the state forensic lab and waiting for the report. We have done everything possible for probe."

Meanwhile, the student unit of Congress alleged that the sex scandal video tape has links with Rishi’s death and demanded an impartial probe into whole incident.

“We have demanded to examine the viral sex tape so that the truth can come to the fore,” said Chhatra Congress president Itish Pradhan.
