Bhubaneswar: Taking a strong note against the allegation made by Student Congress of Odisha for his alleged involvement in a sex tape which has gone viral on social networking sites, Bhubaneswar mayor Ananta Narayan Jena has field defamation and criminal suits against Chhatra Congress President Itish Pradhan and niankhunta.com proprietor Pradeep Pandi on Friday.
According to sources, Jena filed the defamation and criminal suits against the duo at Bhubaneswar Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court today.
Talking to newsmen, Jena said, “I have filed a Rs 1 crore defamation suit against the duo at Bhubaneswar SDJM court. Besides, I have also appealed the court to impose ban on the telecast of the indecent video on YouTube.”
“People belonging to every walk of life are with me. Pradeep Panday is not a resident of the state and has an attitude to defame people. I Hope, I will get the justice. I expect strong action will be taken against the persons who attempted to tarnish my image,” Jena added.

Meanwhile, initiating a probe into the case, Commissionerate Police on Friday said it will serve notices to Chhatra Congress President Itish Pradhan and niankhunta.com proprietor Pradeep Pandi.
Talking to newsmen, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi, said, “We have requested the media to provide the video clip which was circulated at Chhatra Congress press meet yesterday.
“Besides, we have also written to YouTube asking it to stop the telecast of the uploaded video,” Bhoi informed.
