Septuagenarian trampled to death in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A 75-year-old man was trampled to death by a tusker at Jhaliabeda village under Baria police limits in Keonjhar district today. The deceased was identified as Kirtan Mohanty.

Sources said, the tusker attacked Kirtan when he was going to his agricultural field. Irate over the incident, locals staged a road blockade on the Champua-Turumunga road by burning tyres.

The villagers alleged that Kirtan was killed by the pachyderm as police and forest officials did not reach the spot on time to rescue him. They are demanding compensation for the family of the deceased.
