Bargarh/Anandpur/Kalinganagar: As many as eight people were killed in separate road mishaps occurred in Bargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Jajpur districts on Tuesday.

The first accident took place near Paikamal in Bargarh district after a car fell off a bridge leaving three persons including a woman dead and two others injured. The car lost control after hitting road side railing and fell down. The vehicle carrying five passengers was on its way to Jhadabandha in Bargarh from Bhubaneswar.

The injured were rushed to Paikamal health centre and later shifted to Bargarh district headquarters hospital.

In another incident, two persons were killed after the trucks they were driving collided head-on near Satkosia ghat near Anandapur in Keonjhar district on Monday night. A helper sustained critical injuries in the mishap. He was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Rout of Rairangpur and Kada Barang of Bhadrak.

The accident caused traffic disruption on the road for quite sometimes as one of the vehicles overturned on the spot soon after the mishap.

Similarly, a dumper hit a class II girl student at Military Square near Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district killing her on the spot. The incident took place when she was coming to school. Irked, locals blocked Kalinga Nagar-Vyasa Nagar road demanding compensation. Vehicular communication was disrupted for sometimes following the blockade.

In a separate incident, two youths were killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle at Kainsuan near Betanati in Mayurbhanj district.
