Chhatrapur: Senior BJD leader and advocate Surjya Narayan Patnaik passed away on Monday following a cardiac arrest.  He was 59 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Patnaik, a former Zilla Parishad and BJD state council member, was first rushed to Chhatrapur health centre after he complained of chest pain and later shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. After his health condition further deteriorated, he was referred to Bhubaneswar . But before being shifted, he breathed his last.

Patnaik's death was mourned by people from various walks of life not only in Chhatrpur but in the district as well. Fondly remembered as a leader of masses who was always willing to help those in need, many noted personalities, including political leaders and advocates besides common public made a beeline to offer last respects to the departed leader.  

 

Among others, Chhatrapur MLA Dr Priyanshu Pradhan, BDA Chairman Subash Maharana, Zilla Parishad District President Subash Behera,  block president M Dhananjay Reddy, Zilla Parishad member S Kishore Chandra Reddy, Ganjam block chairman Prashant Nayak, Chatrapur Bar Association president Gokul Chandra Panda and secretary S Shyamsundar Rao were present on the occasion.
