Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday denied anticipatory bail to Johnsel Raja, the chairman of Selvam Educational and Charitable Trust, Tamil Nadu for flouting bail conditions.

The HC in its hearing said, since Raja had not co-operated with the court in connection with his case related to MoU with Sardar Rajas medical college in Kalahandi, his appeal for anticipatory bail cannot be entertained.

The court, during preliminary hearing of Raja’s bail petition, had allowed him bail on condition that he would appear before the investigating officials on August 12, 13 and 14 personally. But Raja had deposed before the probing officials only on August 13 for few hours.

This was informed by the officials to the HC and based on this the court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Raja.

In February last, the CBI had registered a case of cheating against the then Additional Secretary, Medical Council of India and five others including Raja for allegedly giving clearance to the medical college by flouting norms.
