Rourkela: Demanding immediate clearance of their pending dues, security guards of a private agency staged demonstration in front of the office of the Town Administration department of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on Monday.
Some of the agitating security guards of Top Guarding Services Pvt Ltd barged into the Town Administration department's office in protest of non-clearance of their salaries pending since January.
Around 200 security guards have been engaged by the RSP for surveillance and guard different places within plant township including IGH, parks and other vital installations.
The situation was brought to control only after RSP officials announced to take a decision on fulfilment of the demands of the security guards by 5 pm today.
M. Nibha, an agitating woman security guard, said, "We staged the demonstration as we had not received our salary for the last two months. Besides, we are also being asked to work overtime without no extra compensation."
However, SK Barik, official of the private security agency, stated, "We discussed with the General Manager and he has given an assurance to look into the demands."
