Bhubaneswar: Security has been beefed up across Odisha, especially in the Maoists affected areas, for smooth celebrations of the Republic Day on Thursday.

Director General of Police K.B. Singh said elaborate security arrangements have been made for celebrations across the state.

All district collectors and superintendents of police have been asked to stay alert during the celebrations.

Meanwhile, the commissionerate police have beefed up security for the smooth and incident-free event at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here.

Governor S.C. Jamir will unfurl the tricolour and take salute at the parade here.

"As many as 30 platoons of security personnel and two special tactical units of Special Operations Group (SOG) will be deployed in the city. Apart from this, 30 CCTV cameras will be installed at strategic points to monitor the movement of visitors for which two control rooms have been set up," said Commissioner of Police Y.B. Khurania.

The police have made special traffic arrangements to regulate the movement of vehicles.
