Bhubaneswar: The second phase of Budget Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) beginning today is all set to be stormy as Opposition BJP and Congress have announced to raise government failures in different sectors to take on the ruling BJD.

Deteriorating law and order situation, drinking water scarcity, employment, migrant laborers, shortage of teachers, Mahanadi water row and delay in appointment of Lokayukta will be the key issues that Opposition members are likely to raise in the House.

“Drinking water and law and order situation will be the major issues for debate,” Leader of the Opposition Narasingha Mishra said.

“Despite several rounds of discussion on farmer issues, the state government is yet to take any concrete steps. Besides, the State government’s failures on several other issues will be raised,” BJP legislator Rabi Nayak pointed out.

“Mahanadi will be one of the key issues,” the ruling party’s chief whip Amar Satapathy stated.

The House will also discuss the demand for grants of different departments. The session will continue till May 5. Adequate security measures have been put in place in view of the Session.
