SEC gears up for official announcement of Panchayat poll results tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: With the official announcement of the Panchayat Polls result scheduled to be made tomorrow by the State Election Commission (SEC), all arrangements have been made in all Block offices in Odisha from where the results will be announced after tabulation.

The tabulation process in all the Block offices will begin from 9 am for which security in the office premises has been tightened by the district administrations as per the instruction of the SEC.

Keeping in view the violence in the rural polls which concluded on February 21, SEC has instructed the district administrations to deploy adequate police force in the block offices during tabulation and declaration of result.

Talking to media persons, SEC Deputy Secretary Azad Hind Panigrahi said tight security are in place at entry points in each block office with deployment of armed police force.

He also informed that the local magistrate will remain present at each block office during the tabulation. “All the district administrations have been asked to ensure peaceful and smooth completion of the process,” Panigrahi added.

After the declaration of results, SEC will publish result handbook on March 2.
