Sec 144 imposed following tension in Balasore town

Balasore: The Balasore district administration today clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC after a man was killed in a group clash here.

Prohibitory orders were enforced in areas of Patrapada and Gabagaon, which is adjacent to Balasore municipality jurisdiction. Three teams of police have been deployed in the area to bring the situation under control, police said.

"The situation is under control and all efforts are being made to bring peace in the locality," Balasore sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Amaresh Panda said.

Two persons of the area were attacked by a gang in old Balasore after which one of them succumbed at the hospital.

The incident led to violence between the residents of Patrapada and Gabagaon, police said adding old rivalry is stated to be the cause of the clash.

People are sitting on the road with the body, demanding arrest of the culprits.
