Apprehending possible disturbances during stevedoring operations at the Paradip port, the district administration has also deployed 20 platoons of police forces at the port.

According to sources, Seaways Shipping and Logistics Private Limited (SSPL) has been entrusted with the task to unload 15,000 MT limestone from MV Kamari ship of SAIL which will berth at the port on Wednesday. But Paradip Stevedores Association is vehemently opposing this, the sources added.

Last year, the port had also witnessed same kind of logjam over stevedoring issues which had brought all the operations to a grinding halt for seven days.
