Seaways GM murder: Raid on Mahima Mishra’s house, wife grilled

Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of the brutal murder of Mahendra Swain, General Manager of General Manager of Seaways Shipping and Logistics Private Limited (SSPL), a team of Paradip Police today raided the house of Mahima Mishra, Managing Director of Odisha Stevedores Ltd (OSL) for the second time and interrogated his wife Mala Mishra.

Reports said a team of Paradip Police raided the House of Mishra in Baramunda area of the city in the morning.

Police have issued a lookout circular against Mishra who has remained absconded since the day of the murder of the Seaways General Manager.

As Mishra is yet to respond to the circular, police has started conducting a series of raids on his possible hideouts. Police had earlier issued notice to Mala Mishra to appear for interrogation in a bid to elicit information about her husband’s whereabouts.

But as she ignored the notice, police today grilled her in her house at Baramunda. Prior to this raid, police had conducted a raid on Mishra’s house at Baramunda on December 7.

Notably, Jagatsinghpur police on November 11 had raided OSL offices in Paradip and Cuttack and the house of Mishra in Paradip. Besides, houses of OSL executive director Basant Bal and two other officials in Puri, Paradip, Cuttack and Kendrapara were searched by the police who had frozen the bank accounts of OSL.

On November 26, raids were carried out at Mishra’s farm house in Nischintakoili, Hotel Empire at Saheed Nagar in Bhubaneswar and his house at Odia Bazar in Cuttack.

On October 26, miscreants hurled crude hand bombs at the vehicle of Seaways General Manager Mahendra Swain near Ambedkar Bhawan at Madhuban Colony in Paradip while he was on his way to office. While Swain attempted to escape, they opened two rounds of bullet killing him on the spot.

Police have so far arrested five accused– Rakesh Chaubey and Riyasat Hussain of Jamshedpur, Muhammad Samin of Jharkhand, and Manoj Gochhayat and Shiva of Cuttack in the case.
