Cuttack: First dengue case this season has been spotted in Ranihat area of Cuttack yesterday.

After blood samples of Kanhu Charan Reddy of Ranihat area was found dengue positive, he was admitted to the special ward at the SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Parsuram Reddy, the patient’s father, said, “For past eight days Kanhu had been suffering from high fever. Initial blood sample showed he was suffering from malaria and treatment was undertaken. However, when his condition did not improve, blood test was done for second time and dengue was detected.”

Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Bikash Das yesterday visited the dengue patient’s house and met family members.

The CMC has swung into action after the first dengue case was reported and formed a special team to create awareness about the vector-borne disease. Residents have been asked not to allow water clogging and use mosquito net while sleeping to prevent spread of the disease.

Jagatpur, Khannagar and Jobra areas of Cuttack are also identified by the CMC as dengue prone areas
